Lake Fortitude

Rumors are always told about sites of unpleasant memories. As Lake Fortitude, located in the northern Woodlands, was the witness to many strange murders, sudden deaths and unforeseen disease, all sorts of folk speculated about the origin of these mysteries. Then a popular saying emerged:

If you are to live for whole a day
After you dared to engage
The curse of the gate will decay
And your body will stop to age

When the word spread, Lake Fortitude grew popular evermore, resulting in a many ugly deaths that were either cloaked by the saying or made up entirely. Still – a conclusion had to be made. The lake must be cursed or as unholy as waters can get and the unknown depths were large, almost infinitely dangerous.

Only when a statue appeared one day, the lake was said to have grown even more callous, more grievous than before. These waters had to be accomplices to hell. Their very touch was deadly, lethal to any who dared to challenge the legend.

This, the sixth narrative of the Woodland Legends, reveals the tale of a man who would stay by cursed Lake Fortitude forever.
